Happy New Year!

First and foremost, I want to wish all of you a fantastic and healthy New Year! May it be filled with joy, wonderment, inspiration and creativity. I hope your year is a glorious rhythm of beautiful highs and peaceful moments. But mostly, I hope you can love 2015 because you lived it well and with love in your heart.

This is a special year for me. Like every year, my life is changing. I get to marry my best friend this year and I couldn’t be more excited to become his wife. Together we can do anything and everything – we are a perfect team. We are not without flaws or imperfections, like any family, but we are just right.

Blog Resolution

I really love this blog. It is a small life source for me – it encourages me to focus even once in a while on my creativity. My job is incredibly stressful – I am a Medical ICU nurse in one of the largest ICUs in Connecticut. I see a lot of suffering, hardship, and death. I help families come to terms with some of life’s most difficult decisions and circumstances. I keep people alive despite all odds using some of the most advanced medical technology and pharmaceuticals. And I do all of this with a smile, holding all emotion hostage until I swipe out at the end of the shift. Because really, how could I focus intently on the incredibly difficult task of keeping my patients alive if I can’t keep my emotions at bay? If your family member is in the ICU, please take into account that if your nurse is not very emotionally available, it is because she is channeling all of her energy into thinking critically and focusing on keeping your family member alive. Because we love what we do. I love what I do. And I’m willing to hold my pee for 12 hours, sacrifice my lunch break, and risk developing PTSD if it means that I MIGHT be able to save your family member. (PS. please be nice to your nurses… they won’t ask you, but they deserve it)

On that note, this blog and my crafting and my creativity keep my brain healthy. These are positive, life-affirming, healing things that make me feel alive. So, this year my blog resolution is to blog more and craft more. I love blogging about crafts and writing tutorials – and I will continue to do this, but this year I also want to write more. I will keep things positive because we all need more positive in our lives. There will also be, of course, wedding crafts to post and wedding dilemmas to ponder. It’s going to be a GREAT 2015!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!
Bridget, XOXO
