Hi Andreya, You do not keep the index card in there, just use it as a template. It also helps to make sharp edges when you press the edges of the fabric. Once the edges are pressed, pull out the index card (step 3). Good luck! I hope this helps!

Thank yo so much for posting this! I just made six "sleep-savers" for our house, but I had to make a little adjustment for our doors. The 3x5 card template came right up to the knob, so I needed to either trim the pads shorter than the card or make sure that the bands were on the tight side. I also must have used some particularly thin batting because I had to double it up. In the end, our house is now much quieter and very cute. This tutorial was the perfect starting place. Thank you again for sharing!
I was going to buy one for my classroom, but I'm so glad I found your DOY. Now I can make them for my entire team. FYI: Great teacher gifts too! They allow for the door to be locked without, students getting locked out every bathroom break. And they can be easily removed in an emergency.
